What has become of this economy?

Today I was thinking about phone-books and how sooner or later the phone books are going to wheedle down to nothing but packets (over dramatically speaking). These days people have cell phones and there isn't really a need to have a house phone, whatever that is. Yes, there are still people who have home phones and will always have a house phone because although it may not be as convenient and mobile as a cell phone, it is cheaper.

Another thing that really caught me off caught is the many businesses that are shutting down. Boarders being one of them. With the iPads and Kindles, who needs to read anything on paper anymore? Many magazines are posted online now, so you don't even have to leave your house.

Maybe this is just how it goes ya know? There are definitely some things from the past that are not in the present day. Maybe the people of the 60's didn't think that 8-tracks would ever go out of style either. Here are a few stores and common everyday items we don't use anymore.

Montgomery Ward. There is still an online store but, all of the actual stores are shut down.

I must say, these pictures were very hard to find. Goes to show just how old they are.
